Padula, Mary Violet
Mary Violet Padula, 76, of Amana, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Keystone Cedars Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. David Mosher officiating. Burial will be in Amana Cemetery, Amana.
Mary is survived by her children, Judy Haines of Cedar Rapids, Bud Dreier of Amana and Sharon Bavin of California; seven grandchildren, Brian Haines, Benjamin Haines, Elizabeth Haines, Andrea Haines, Christopher Dreier, Holly Hastings and Amanda Bavin; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Ruth (Leo) Thompson of Waterloo.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jimmy Petalous; her daughter, Karen Dreier; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Bavin.
Mary Violet Petalous was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Waterloo, the daughter of James and Josephine Petalous. She received her education in the Waterloo schools. She owned and operated a variety of businesses in the Amana Colonies for the past 20 years.
