Hart, Phillip 'Flip'

Phillip “Flip” Hart, 57, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Per his wishes there will be no services. Burial will be at a later date in Geneseo, Ill. Arrangements are by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include the love of his life for 14 years, Mary Richman; sons, Chad Hart, Nicholas Hart and Nathan Hart; daughter, Amy Strong; stepdaughters, Jamie Richman and Jackie Van Gorp; brothers, Jerry (Debbie) Hart and Shawn (Ricca) Hart; and nine grandchildren.

Flip was born Dec. 20, 1954, in Rock Island, Ill., the son of Gerald and Joanne (Bladel) Hart. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Flip worked in underground construction for many years.

He enjoyed NASCAR, the Cubs, fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Hospice of Mercy and the hospice house for their compassionate care of Flip during his illness.
