Lofton, Forrest 'Kent'

Forrest “Kent” Lofton, 66, of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., passed away, with his wife at his side, Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee after a short and courageous battle with leukemia. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home in Marion. Burial will immediately follow the service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Kent was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of the late Forrest Dale and Verna (Dahlgren) Lofton. Kent received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa. On June 18, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he married Lillian Helbig. Kent and Lillian made Marion, Iowa their home for over 23 years, moving to Pleasant Prairie in 2004. He has been employed by Bombadier Motors Corp. in Sturtevant, Wis., for the last 10 years. He loved boating and cars.

Surviving are his loving wife, Lillian; a sister, Kay (Jim) DeLong of Cedar Rapids; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lewis (Karlene) Helbig of Marion.
