A Cedar Rapids police officer escaped injury when a woman hit him with her car Sunday afternoon.
Police say officer Bryson Garringer, 24, saw Terrell Ware, 28, driving while barred at 1208 16th St. SW. By the time Garringer turned around, Ware had gone inside the house and Terra Anderson, 36, had gotten into the car.
As police arrested Ware, Anderson started the car and began to drive away. Officers ordered her to stop, but instead police say she drove at Garringer. Police say Garringer drew his handgun, but Anderson hit him before finally stopping.
Police arrested Anderson for assault on a peace officer with a dangerous weapon and interference with official acts. Ware faces charges of driving while barred and possession of a controlled substance for marijuana found in the car.
