An up-and-down second half cost the Iowa State women's basketball team Sunday in a 56-49 loss to Michigan at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Iowa State made just 19 of 56 shots against its Big Ten opponent, including 10 of 36 3-point attempts. It also committed 18 turnovers that led to 21 Michigan points.
After trailing 24-22 at the break, Iowa State opened the second half with an 8-0 run to get its first lead of the game. Michigan responded, but Iowa State put together a 7-0 run to regain the lead at 37-32.
Michigan then had an 11-0 spurt to regain the lead for good.
Hallie Christofferson led the Cyclones (4-2) with 13 point and 10 rebounds. Jessica Schroll, returning to her home state of Michigan, added 12 points, and Chelsea Poppens recorded a game-high 11 rebounds to go with nine points.
UW-GREEN BAY 75, UNI 67 - Northern Iowa trimmed a 16-point deficit to five late in the second half but ultimately came up short against the 17th-ranked team in the Kress Events Center at Green Bay, Wis.
Senior guard Katelin Oney, a former Cedar Rapids Washington prep, scored a career-high 25 points for the Panthers.
Oney's total was the most scored by a Panther this season and the highest total since K.K. Armstrong - another Cedar Rapids Washington product - scored 26 against Bradley in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament last season.
Armstrong added 14 points Sunday, and Rachel Madrigal scored 11 for her sixth double-digit effort this season.
Twenty-seven turnovers hampered UNI's bid to snap Green Bay's 26-game regular season winning streak.
