Only one team will have more players at NFL Draft Combine than Iowa - and you won't guess it
Mike Hlas Feb. 2, 2011 10:13 am
Nine is a lot.
The Iowa football players who are going to Indianapolis on the week of Feb. 23 to be measured, timed, poked, and probably even checked for deer ticks are:
Christian Ballard, Adrian Clayborn, Ryan Donahue, Jeremiah Hunter, Karl Klug, Allen Reisner, Tyler Sash, Ricky Stanzi and Julian Vandervelde.
The only team sending more players to Indy for the Combine than Iowa is ... North Carolina? That's right. Twelve Tar Heels will be among the 329 players who will be there.
Nebraska, Ohio State and Miami (Fla.) tied Iowa for second-most with nine.
Other Big Ten numbers: Wisconsin 7, Michigan State 4, Illinois 3, Indiana 3, Michigan 2, Penn State 2, Purdue 2, Minnesota 0, Northwestern 0.
Iowa State and Northern Iowa have one representative each in safety David Sims and tight end Schuylar Oordt, respectively.
TCU, Boise State and Auburn will all have five players at the Combine. Connecticut will have six, Oklahoma four.
