CEDAR RAPIDS — Update: According to the Alliant website, most customers have had their energy restored.
Prevous Coverage:
A few hundred Alliant Energy customers will be without power Friday evening — some for a few hours — after a power line was damaged by a backhoe.
Alliant spokesman Mike Wagner said a backhoe struck a power line — which caused a nearby power pole to fall over — a little after 5 p.m. Friday near 12th Avenue and Ninth Street SW, causing a power outage for 560 customers in the area.
Wagner said Alliant crews are working to restore power to customers, but some might be without power for a few hours or so.
