DARYL "BIG D" LEE STROPE
Petersburg, Ill.
Daryl "Big D" Lee Strope, 66, of Petersburg, Ill., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully April 27, 2021, at Lutheran Living Home in Muscatine, Iowa. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for Daryl's arrangements and his family.
Born May 28, 1955, in Champaign, Ill., to Robert Wayne and Patricia Ann (Anderson) Strope. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, in 1973. Daryl worked at Eagle Foods in Cedar Rapids later transferring to Springfield, Ill., where he remained. He had a love for people, which is what lead him to becoming a bartender in Springfield and then owning Big D's Saloon in Tallula, Ill. Daryl loved to ride his Harley, always had a story to tell, and a dog by his side.
Left remembering Daryl, is his mother, Patricia of Marion, Iowa; brothers, Mike (LeAndra) and family of Marion, Iowa, Gareth (Veronica) and family of Burke, Va., his boys Troy Rachford and Robert Ross of Petersburg, Ill., Richard Ross of Port Richy, Fla., and grandsons, Tyler Kelley of Petersburg, Ill., and Alan Ross of Port Richy, Fla.; and cousins, special great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceeded in death was his father, Robert; grandparents on both sides; special aunt, Needie Bentley; uncles and aunts; his dogs, Teke, Sadie, Karma, Chopper, Max, Bella and Sarge; and cats, Tuss, Callie, Hallie and Rocket.
