Two new administrators will join the Cedar Rapids Community School District on Monday, July 1.
At Monday's regular meeting, the district's school board approved hiring Candi Lynch and Karla Ries. Lynch will become the principal at Johnson School of the Arts, replacing retiring current principal Kevin Uhde. Ries, the district's new director of instructional services, will take duties and responsibilities similar to Sandy Stephen, the district's executive administrator of instructional services, who is also retiring.
Both Lynch and Ries are employed in other positions in the district, with Lynch serving as an elementary student services facilitator and Ries as a professional development facilitator.
The board also approved the hiring of Valerie Nyberg, to be the new associate principal at Washington High School. She will take over for Rick Williams, who is retiring, beginning on Monday, July 1. Nyberg is currently a policy analyst West Wind Education Policy in Iowa City.
