Sharp, Marie A.
Marie A. Sharp, 88, of Iowa City, formerly of Roseville, Calif., died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Bickford Cottage, Iowa City. No services are planned. Marie's cremated remains will be scattered in San Francisco Bay, where she and her late husband, Douglas, sailed. Her husband's remains were scattered there following his death in 2005. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Marie was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Oakland, Calif., and was raised in Berkley, Calif. On Nov. 11, 1941, Marie married Douglas Sharp in Honolulu. They lived in Honolulu for five years before returning to Alameda and later Roseville, Calif. Marie had been a dental assistant for many years.
Marie was a musician who loved jazz. She played the piano, the double bass, had been a member of a jazz band and loved her annual attendance at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Jamie Sharp of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and her son, Larry.
