Letter-writer urged to support the fair

I read Betsy Brown's letter 'Keep politics out of Linn County Fair” in the Friday, Aug. 10, Gazette.

She complained about legislative candidate Louis Zumbach's support of the Linn County Fair. Specifically, she complained because the fair recognized the contributions of his campaign, the same way they do for every other entity, and that is through signage. Brown also noted that Deb Zumbach is the treasurer and rental manager for the fairgrounds.

To my knowledge, Zumbach did not offer long policy tracts and frequent speeches about his stances on issues. So, instead of writing to The Gazette to complain about the Zumbachs' using the fair 'to push their GOP politics,” I suggest that Brown get out her checkbook and write a check to the Linn County Fair to support them financially. In addition, if she'd like to volunteer her time, I'm sure that Zumbach and the rest of the staff would be happy to have her!
