Sandhagen, Virgil E.
Virgil E. Sandhagen, 83, of Lamont, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at East Towne Care Center in Independence. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dundee. The Rev. Ron Spears and Interim Minister Kay Bollenbach will officiate. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point and one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Interment: Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point.
Survivors include his wife, Faith Sandhagen of Lamont; three children, Rita Sandhagen of Iowa City, Ray Sandhagen (friend Terri Wilcoxson) of Lamont and Rick (Deb) Sandhagen of Independence; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, June Sandhagen of Manchester and Delva Sandhagen of Strawberry Point; and Patches.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ronald and Roger; a daughter-in-law, Kandy; a granddaughter, Lana Sandhagen; and five siblings, Wanda Bacon, Donna Fayram, Jim Sandhagen, Merle “Peanut” Sandhagen and Lora Sandhagen.
