Apr. 11, 2012 9:20 am
During a food delivery to a home in east Iowa City late Tuesday, an employee from the China Wok said he was robbed at gunpoint, according to Iowa City police.
Officers are still looking for the suspect who they say approached a China Wok delivery man as he walked to a home at 828 Willow St. in Iowa City before 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Police were called at 11 p.m. to the area of 700 Brookside Drive, about a block away from the alleged robbery, for an unknown problem, according to a news release. When they arrived, they found two employees from China Wok, 2302 Muscatine Ave., who said they had been robbed during a delivery.
According to police, the employees said they didn't see anyone outside when they pulled up to the house. One of the employees got out of the vehicle to deliver the food, and before he could reach the door, a man approached him and pointed a long gun at him, according to the news release.
The suspect got away with the food and an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot, according to police. The restaurant employees weren't injured.
They described the man as white, between 20 and 30 years old, with a long face and medium build. He was wearing a black coat and a black stocking cap at the time.
