Goodrow, Everett Eugene
Everett Eugene Goodrow, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at Cottage Grove Place, Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Private Family Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Robert and Curtis; a brother, Robert (Delores) Goodrow; and grandchildren, Eric and Stephanie Karr and Jaclynn Hiranaka.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean; parents; son, Gene Jr.; and daughter, Carol Ann.
Gene was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, to Harold and Grace Noll Goodrow. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1943 and served in the Pacific during World War II with the U.S. Navy. He married Betty Jane Ulsamer in Iowa City on Nov. 13, 1954. Gene was a printer for Russell's Guides, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed playing golf, singing and spending winters with his wife, Betty in Florida. He loved Gospel music and had an abiding faith.
He was a member of the Shueyville United Methodist Church, Harmony Hawks Barbershop Chorus, the VFW #788 and the American Legion.
