Reed, Kristina 'Red'

Kristina “Red” Reed was taken from us on Nov. 20, 2009, by an aggressively, unpredictable cancer. She was 28. Even in her last moments, she departed with the grace and beauty the rest of us can only imagine.

Kristina is survived by family and friends who have forever been blessed by her humor, her generosity, and her unselfish love for those closest to her heart.

With aspirations of being a chef, Kristina graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Minnesota and made her way to Florida to a world famous restaurant at the Walt Disney World Complex, eventually returning home to family and friends to a position at Cottage Grove Place, where she made her life the care and protection of its residents.

Kristina touched everyone with her sincere ability to spread laughter and love to anyone in need. She gave love fully, expecting nothing in return. As a token of their love for Kristina, the residents of Cottage Grove Place have established a foundation in her name to help pay for medical expenses.

A Celebration on Life service will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cottage Grove Place, 2115 First Ave. SE. In keeping with Kristina's unlimitless potential for putting others first, the family has asked for donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
