An Iowa City woman faces drug and child endangerment charges after police say they found an active meth lab after raiding her home.
Iowa City police responded to a report of the alleged meth lab at the home of Cindy L. Guhl, 50, 101 Shrader Rd., and one of her children denied consent to search his room, according to criminal complaints.
Police said officers then executed a search warrant and found meth paraphernalia, precursors, packaging material, a digital scale, meth, and evidence of meth manufacturing in the boy's room.
Guhl admitted to police that one of her children was making meth and said she could smell a “toxic odor” coming from his room, according to the criminal complaint.
Guhl's 15- and 12-year-old children also live at the home and were exposed to the lab and other affects of living in a drug house, police said.
Information about charges against Guhl's son were not available. It's not clear which of the sons was involved in the meth manufacturing operation.
Guhl is charged with keeping a drug house and child endangerment. She was in the Johnson County Jail Tuesday morning on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
