Remodeling work done at the Linn County Sheriff's Office after the flood of 2008 will be on display during an open house Saturday.
The public is invited to attend the open house from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Sheriff's Office, 310 Second Ave. SW. Gov. Chet Culver and Congressman Dave Loebsack will tour the facility at 1:30 p.m. A slide show detailing the flood damage and restoration efforts will be shown.
Sheriff Brian Gardner said the Federal Emergency Management Agency has obligated more than $5.6 million for building reconstruction and more than $1.2 million for contents replacement.
The flood of June 2008 forced the relocation of the Sheriff's Office employees for 19 months. They first set up shop at the Marion Police Department and then moved to the Abbe Center for Community Care. Employees returned to the downtown Cedar Rapids location on Jan. 12, 2010.
