Pratt, Edward A.
Edward A. Pratt, 80, of 1220 Fifth Ave. SE, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after noon Monday. Entombment, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, DeVonna; and three daughters, Sandie (Ed) Callan of Shellsburg, Rosalie (Keith) Duarte of Springville and Juanita Lara of Blessing, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ella Mae; and a great-grandson, Tanner.
Ed was born on Oct. 13, 1931, in Waukon, the son of Anton and Olive (Dolphin) Pratt. He married DeVonna M. White on June 18, 1955, in Waukon. Ed worked for the U.S. Post Office, retiring from there after more than 32 years of service. He also drove school bus for the Cedar Rapids Community School District for several years. Ed proudly served in both the Army and Navy during the Korean War.
He was an avid bowler, enjoyed watching the Cubs and the Hawkeyes, and especially enjoyed the time spent with his beloved family and many friends. Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Ed's name.
