Snodgrass, Larry
On May 2, 2013, Larry Snodgrass of Cedar Rapids came to the end of his life's journey.
Born to Clarke Culver Snodgrass and Mildred Nelson of Osceola, Neb., Larry served in the United States Army (1954-1956) and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska (1960).
He was a loving husband to Jill Snodgrass, (nee Grossnicklaus), whom he married Aug. 8, 1959.
Larry worked 37 years for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was a general sports fan and loved, loved, loved the game of golf, golf, golf. Larry was a four-handicap golfer and held the rare distinction of not one, but two hole-in-ones. A meticulous gardener, his yard was the awe and envy of the neighborhood.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and brothers, Milan, Lee and Max.
Larry was the proud father of Renee Day, wife to Brian Day of Gilbert, Ariz., Cheryl Snodgrass of San Francisco, Calif., and Gregg Snodgrass, husband to Michaela Murphy-Snodgrass of Seattle, Wash. Larry doted on his loving grandchildren, Kendall and Tyler Day and Elliott Snodgrass.
He was a proud member of Husker Nation, however, as he had a big heart and a love for all sports, he cheered alongside his wife for the black and gold, specifically the Iowa Hawkeye basketball team.
The Snodgrass family will honor Larry's life with a series of memorials spent with the people he loved and in the places he loved most.
His family suggests donations be made in his memory to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233 or the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, 721 10th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
Please leave a message or tribute to the Snodgrass family on the Web page www.cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.
