Kraft, Dean R.
Dean R. Kraft, 86, of Hiawatha, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 727. Friends may visit after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He is survived by three brothers, Casey Kraft of Sarasota, Fla., William Kraft of Madison, Wis., and Donn Kraft of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Joan Godber of Cedar Rapids and Gwen Christensen and Barbara Wood, both of Cedar Falls; 19 nieces and nephews; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark R. Kraft; and nephew, Thomas Godber.
Dean was born June 30, 1925, in Farmington, Minn., the son of Aldo and Dorthea (Gleason) Kraft. He retired in 1987 after 32 years of working for Wilsons in Illinois, Indiana and Cedar Rapids. Dean was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II and the Korean War.
Dean had many interests, including golf, biking on seven RAGBRAI's, bowling, cards, wildflowers and photography. He was a St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan throughout his life. He was also an avid reader of mysteries.
