MARY BARNOTES
Cedar Rapids
Mary Laverne Barnotes, 89, died peacefully Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
Surviving Mary are her three children, Michael
(Karen) Barnotes, Mary Rose Barnotes and Thomas Barnotes, all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Michael Barnotes, Carolyn Barnotes-Shade and Casey (aka Scott) and (Lindsay) Prince; five great-grandchildren, Christien, Kenzie and Matthew Shade and Eloise and Phoebe Prince; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Rose McCarthy; and three brothers, Frank, James and
Michael Budzinski.
Mary was born July 12, 1924, in Chicago. She was the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth Callahan Budzinski. Mary and Stanley Barnotes were united in marriage in May 1947. Mary spent her life as a loving mother and home-maker.
She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids for the past 11 years. She enjoyed feeding the birds and occasionally going to the casino. She was a devoted Catholic, reciting the rosary every day and attending service regularly. But the thing she treasured most was the time she was given to spend with her family and friends, her family was her life's calling. She was a loving mother, daughter, wife, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
