Mumm, Dwight L.
Dwight L. Mumm, 79, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at his home in Williamsburg, Iowa. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, with Pastor Carl Cloeter officiating. Interment will be in Pilot Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo.
Dwight is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce; three sons, Les (Wanda) Mumm of Eureka, Mont., Steve (Paula) Mumm of Altoona and Jeff (Cindy) Mumm of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Julie (Mike) Bodkins of Altoona; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy Mumm of Williamsburg, Allicia (Jason) Wissink and Sean Mumm, both of Seattle, Wash., Lindsay Willard, Tina (Jess) Farley and Ashley Mumm, all of Cedar Rapids, Capt. Dustin Willard of Abilene, Texas, Lindsay (Jason) Toenges of Katy, Texas, Kyle Bodkins of Minneapolis and Jarred Mumm of Altoona; and a great-grandchild, Hayden Toenges. He is also survived by two sisters, Marcella Martinson, and Irene (Noel) Siems of Amana; two brothers-in-law, Merlyn Martinson of Marengo and Milford (Nancy) Martinson of Williamsburg; a sister-in-law, Leona (Luke) Loyd of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Florence Cronbaugh; three brothers-in-law, Irvin Martinson, Henry Boesenberg and Bill Cronbaugh; and two sisters-in-law, Norma Siems and Edith Martinson.
Dwight Leslie Mumm was born June 7, 1931, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Arthur Otto and Alice Collingwood Mumm. He attended the Iowa County schools. On Sept. 7, 1950, he married Joyce Ann Martinson in Knoxville, Iowa. He farmed for 26 years and was the fourth generation to farm on the Mumm family farm. This farm was designated a Century Farm in 1976. He also worked at Middle America and Fetzer's Standard for 17 years and landscaped for Tom Belland and Paul Marner. He joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in 1955 and was a member in good standing. Dwight enjoyed traveling, camping, family gatherings, and visiting at the Coffee Club. He also was interested in history and tracing his family tree.
A memorial fund has been established.
