Iowa City needs a visual arts hub

Regarding the arts, Iowa City is a city of music, film and entertainment. There is no real venue for the visual arts that would be recognized by the art world as such. The museum doesn't count.
There needs to be an exhibition center for living contemporary art, the likes of which exists in Burlington, Vt.; Quincy, Ill., Columbia, Mo.; and Elmhurst, Ill., for instance. Iowa City needs to stop its pretentious bragging rights and get serious. Grant Wood will no longer adequate to carry the load.
