CEDAR RAPIDS - A 38-year-old man convicted of theft in Iowa and Polk counties pleaded not guilty in federal court Thursday to the 2010 robbery of the Keokuk County State Bank in Williamsburg.
Ryan Randles, who has no permanent address, pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of bank robbery. He is accused of brandishing a gun and taking $5,676 from the bank Oct. 20, 2010. His trial is scheduled for Aug. 17.
Randles pleaded guilty earlier this month to first-degree theft in Iowa County for a robbery at the Best Western motel in Williamsburg on Oct. 19, 2010, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The bank and hotel robberies happened within 24 hours of each other, according to police reports.
Randles also pleaded guilty to first-degree theft in Polk County in May and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Iowa and Polk sentences will run consecutively.
