Charles Jackson Allers, 75, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Windmill Manor in Coralville following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown where friends may call from
9 a.m. until service time. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Charles was born April 18, 1939, at the Corn Belt Hospital in Belle Plaine to Robert and Mary (Sedgewick) Allers. He graduated from the first Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School Class of 1958. He also attended Iowa State, majoring in agribusiness. On weekends he helped his father on the farm north of Belle Plaine with livestock and crops.
Charles enjoyed hunting and riding his horse, "Prince." He also loved his cocker spaniel, "Jerry."
Charles is survived by his brother, David, of Amana; his nephew, David Lee (Jennifer) Allers of Cedar Rapids, and his children, Tom, Noah and Hannah; and his niece, Toiona Allers (Emmet) and her children, Kia, Kashane and Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
