-- No TE Tony Moeaki. He'll miss the game with a sprained ankle for the second straight week. This is the 14th missed game of his career. Two things, when and is this a high-ankle sprain?

-- Sounds like WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos is a go. Could this be another primetime sparkler for DJK? Remember Wisconsin '07? One-handed catch for six. Four catches for 45 yards. A 44-yard kick return. That one-handed catch.

-- Field is covered with a white tarp. I guess they're carrying this "white out" thing to the max.

-- Rain is supp0sed to continue throughout. It's steady right now.

-- On "Pylons," the astute Bellanca posted (of course, it didn't show up because of stellar IntenseDebate): "We haven't given up a rushing TD since Nov 8 2008, right? 25 quarters: no rushing TD. There has to be a high level of confidence on our D against Royster and their run game. Just a very strong memory of doing just fine against big-stat backs like Ringer, McCoy, Royster (2008), Grigsby."

He is correct. PSU WR Derrick Williams' 9-yard run in the 3Q last season at Kinnick was the last rushing TD scored against Iowa's defense. That's six games without a rush TD. That's half a season, covering two Big Ten games and an Outback Bowl.

-- A little more than two hours from kickoff. I'm not sure there has been a more anticipated game in the Ferentz era.

-- PSU players walked out here about 10 minutes ago. Daryll Clark is burly.

-- Iowa specialists just walked out. They received a mild chorus of boss.

-- This is the hardest it's rained all day.

-- K Trent Mossbrucker is dressed. I guess this is how it's going to go for him. Stay ready and it don't play, take a redshirt.

-- Penn State's kickers tried it from 50. They were good. Mossbrucker just made one from 48. Colin Wagner just spanked one from 50 with plenty of leg. Five yards to his left, Daniel Murray linedrived the same kick wide left and then put one through.

-- Remember, ABC's Bob Griese pointed out on a broadcast last year that PSU QB Daryll Clark has small hands. So, there's that.

-- Penn State is out of the tunnel (6:09 Iowa time). Some guy with a crewcut and a 73 PSU jersey is sitting behind me in the pressbox.

-- In nine of 11 of Ferentz's seasons at Iowa, he's opened the Big Ten season on the road. 

-- We've talked quite a bit about Iowa punter Ryan Donahue this week. Penn State's guy Jeremy Boone averages 47 yards a boot. He's killing it in pregame.

-- Iowa AD Gary Barta says Iowa players have been relazed throughout the week.

-- Bulaga worked out, staring to bring him back next week in practice, hopefully, KF said just now on the radio.

 -- "If we do our job, this ought to be a great football game," KF just said. Iowa wants it to be a four-quarter game.
