Shooter identified in Dubuque pawn shop incident

Police on Tuesday identified Matthew C. Folstad, 34, of Dubuque, as the person who shot and wounded Geromey Gilliand, 20, in a Jan. 11 shooting at Dubuque Pawn, 2160 Central Ave.
Folstad works for the pawnshop, police said. The shooting remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
Gilliand is in the Dubuque County Jail on a warrant that charges he assaulted the shop owner's daughter, an assault reported Jan. 9.
On Jan. 11, Gilliand and three others went into the pawnshop. A fight started with the pawnshop owner about Gilliand's assault of the daughter, and shots were fired. Police found Gilliand wounded at the Road Ranger across the street at 2175 Central Ave.
Gilliand had been living at 2651 Owen Ct., No. 44, Dubuque, but moved to Chicago after being treated for his injuries.
