Marvin McNutt Sr. was a proud papa Saturday

IOWA CITY -- Wide receiver.
"That's what he plays," a Missouri man named Marvin McNutt said about his son of the same name.
McNutt came to Iowa as a quarterback in 2007. As a redshirt freshman, he completed a 10-yard pass against Florida International in the second game of the 2008 season.
In Iowa's seventh game of the year, he had an 11-yard reception in a 45-9 breeze at Indiana. He was a wide receiver. A 6-foot-4, 215-pound receiver.
Saturday at Kinnick Stadium, McNutt caught the first two touchdown balls of his career. He looked like a receiver. Oh, was the pass-and-catch from Ricky Stanzi to McNutt a beauty in the third-quarter.
"I think he's done real well," said the senior McNutt in a Kinnick concourse after the game.
"I don't think it was a disappointment when he moved to receiver. He's a competitor. He wants to be on the field."
McNutt has been elected to the Hawkeyes' Leadership Group in each of the three seasons he has been in the program, which says as much as him making first-team receiver in his first full year at the position.
His dad was thoroughly pleased with his son's performance Saturday, but he didn't sound or act shocked or even the least bit surprised.
"I think the initial transition (to receiver) surprised us," he said, "but we're not surprised (at the results) because of Marvin and his ability.
"You always want to see your kids do well. It feels good."
