A sentencing date has been set in Johnson County District Court on Jan. 21, 2011 for former University of Iowa football player Abe Satterfield.
Satterfield, 21, pleaded guilty April 9 to assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was charged in the same case as Cedric Everson, 21, a former teammate of Satterfield who is accused of second-degree sexual assault for allegedly raping a former UI female student-athlete in a UI residence hall in October 2007.
Satterfield is expected to receive a suspended sentence and probation in exchange for his testimony against Everson, according to court records. His sentencing will be after Everson's trial.
Everson's trial date was reset for Jan. 10, 2011 in Johnson County District Court. A pre-trial hearing will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 30.
