Shirley L. Driscoll, 89, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, following a long illness. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Following services, a time for food and fellowship will be held in The Avacentre. A private family inurnment will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Shirley was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Bayside, N.Y., the daughter of Charles and Florence (Smith) Sinclair. She attended school in Bayside.
She was united in marriage to Patrick F. "Merle" Driscoll.
Shirley was a loving and caring mother with a beautiful sense of humor and kind nature. She enjoyed her family immensely, loved playing bingo, dancing and listening to big band and country music. Those who knew her well often considered her the life of the party, given her quick wit and since of humor. Shirley will be remembered for her generous spirit and caring demeanor. She will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include five children, Michael (Barbara) Driscoll of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl (Bob) Eschwege of Alpine, Calif., Timothy (Nancy) Driscoll of Morro Bay, Calif., Kelly (Heidi) Driscoll of Camarillo, Calif., and Amy Driscoll of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Connie Driscoll of Harrisonburg, Va.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Charles L. Sinclair of Utica, N.Y., and Joseph J. (Edith) Sinclair of Hampton Bays, Long Island, N.Y.; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Florence Sinclair; two sisters, Delores Sinclair and Vivian Tertesen; and her son, Patrick Driscoll.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, and UnityPoint Hospice of Cedar Rapids for the love and care they provided.
