Solon’s Loveless, 3 Kernels selected for MWL All-Star Game

Outfielder Derrick Loveless of Solon has been selected to play in the 2014 Midwest League All-Star Game.
The league announced teams for the Western and Eastern Divisions. They were picked in a vote of league managers, though managers could not vote for their own players.
Pitchers Kohl Stewart and Yorman Landa, and third baseman Bryan Haar of the Cedar Rapids Kernels also were picked for the game, which is June 17 at Fifth Third Ballpark in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Loveless, of the Lansing Lugnuts, is a reserve outfielder on the Eastern Division All-Star team. He was hitting .287 through Tuesday, with a home run and 24 RBIs in 47 games.
Stewart has been the Kernels' most consistent starting pitcher, with a 2.76 earned run average in 10 starts. He has a 1-2 record and is holding hitters to a .209 batting average in 49 innings.
Landa is on the disabled list. He has a 3-1 record and 2.88 ERA in 13 relief outings, striking out 30 in 25 innings.
Haar is hitting .274 in 54 games, with a team-best eight home runs and 30 RBIs. He, Stewart and Landa are reserves on the Western Division All-Star team.
