Video 1
— Iowa QB Jake Rudock was in pain on the sideline three weeks ago after he injured his hip and stood on the sideline to help guide CJ Beathard through the second half.
Tough kid. Joked about how he was feeling. 'We're not going to talk about how we are.'
Money quote came on a question about the two-QB thing being a personal challenge: 'That's how you have to [look at it]. You can't make it more than it is.'
Video 2
— I asked a lot of the guys if they could quickly recall two-QB systems that have just worked and gone along smoothly. I thought CJB might be up on one, with his grandfather being Bobby Beathard, the former NFL GM (probably headed to the Hall of Fame).
Nope.
'Ummm, I don't know,' CJ Beathard said. 'I'm sure there are somewhere. I don't know.'
We are going through the looking glass here, people. This is uncharted territory. This is Ernest Shackleton sailing to Antarctica.
I'm pretty sure he's the one who lived. I think.
Video 3
— This is former Iowa DE Dominic Alvis. What, Marc, he played for Iowa last year? Why are you including this here? You've finally lost it, haven't you, old man? Pull yourself, you're an embarrassment.
Easy, inner monologue.
All this talk about QBs kind of jogged my memory. This is before the 2013 opener against Northern Illinois. The Huskies had that one QB Jordan Lynch. Great at the zone read and a pretty big fella. I asked Alvis about zone read QBs and he mentioned one 'Casey Beetherd' as being pretty good at it.
He corrected himself and said C.J. Beathard. Still, thought that was interesting. Maybe more of that comes out if Rudock is healthy.
Video 4
— TE Ray Hamilton is one of those guys who when he has something to say, he says it well, with gusto. When he just wants to get through and when he's asked about QBs 47 times, he kind of squirms. I don't blame him on this one.
About a minute in, he talks about seeing CJB do it in practice.
'We're a lucky team to have both of these guys. No idea [how long it will last]. No idea.'
