CEDAR RAPIDS — Throughout its history, St. Luke’s School of Nursing established a legacy of compassionate care and dedicated service through its graduates. St. Luke’s School of Nursing graduated 2,524 students between 1892 and the last graduating class in 1987.
The School of Nursing building, later renamed the Resource Center, was badly damaged by last year’s derecho storm and had to be demolished. Although the hospital wasn't able to save actual bricks from the building, St. Luke’s Foundation launched a Legacy Brick Campaign as a lasting tribute to the school and all it stood for. The campaign will help create a commemorative terrace on St. Luke’s campus. This terrace will honor the school and its nurse graduates.
Each new brick is $100 and may be engraved with a message. Individuals may wish to personalize their brick with their name and graduation year or use it to remember a special classmate or honor a colleague or loved one.
Here are two ways to purchase a Legacy Brick to support the Alumni Terrace.
• To pay via credit card, please visit nursing.givesmart.com
• To pay with cash or check, please call the St. Luke’s Foundation at (319) 369-7716.
