Dennis, Elizabeth Ann 'Betty'

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Dennis, 69, of Loveland, Colo., died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. She was born on Sept. 24, 1940, to Fay L. and Mary “Mamie” (Crowley) Pillard in Monticello, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Coggon, Iowa. On Jan. 21, 1961, she married Merle L. Dennis in Prairieburg, Iowa.

Betty was employed at Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids for 23 years prior to moving to Colorado. She worked as an executive secretary for Ball Aerospace in Broomfield, Colo., retiring after 21 years of service. Betty had lived in Loveland since 1991, moving from Boulder, Colo.

She loved playing bingo with her husband Merle. She loved watching movies and spending time in the outdoors gardening and doing yard work. She was an avid Broncos fan and loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Dennis is survived by her husband, Merle of Loveland; sons, Rick A. Dennis of Loveland, and Ronald E. Dennis and wife Dawn of Anamosa, Iowa; sisters, Jean Smith of Marion, Joan Dudrey and husband Jeff of Marion; brother, Merle Pillard and wife Cora of Central City, six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Pillard; sister, Mary Eiben; and a grandson, Matthew.

Visitation will also take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, with the Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating.
