Strickler, Philomena 'Minni'
Philomena “Minni” Strickler, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three children, Virginia (Gary) Kimball of O'Fallon, Mo., Robert (fiancee Debbie Snyder) Strickler of Indianapolis, Ind., and Christine (Todd) Flatness of Amboy, Minn.; four grandchildren, Tammy Kimball, Jeffrey (Jeannie) Kimball, Amy Barnett and Jennifer (Billy) Galloway; eight great-grandchildren, Misty Klock, Tyson and Basil Kimball, Dakota, Emily and Megan Barnett, and Leslie and Austin Galloway; and a sister, Theresa Benefield of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; and a daughter, Cindy.
Minni was born Dec. 5, 1927, the daughter of Adolf and Franziska (Schilling) Penzenstadler in Munich, Germany. On Jan. 2, 1948, she married Ralph M. Strickler. He died Aug. 13, 2006.
Minni was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she attended the Martha and Shawl Groups. She also was a member of Cedar Rapids Woman's Club where she was the treasurer for five years.
Minni belonged to three bridge clubs. She taught sewing and enjoyed bowling. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Drum & Bugle Corps chaperon and 4-H volunteer. Minni also helped to build a church in Cozumel, Mexico.
Gifts of flowers or memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Pet Shelter or Westminster Presbyterian Church in memory of Minni.
