Jean B. (Kozik) Dill was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Ludlow, Mass., the daughter of Michael and Mary Ann (Kurtyka) Kozik. She was raised in La Porte, Ind., where she graduated from La Porte High School, being elected to the National Honor Society. On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Glen J. Dill in Crown Point, Ind. The couple lived in La Porte until moving to Santa Fe, N.M., where they raised their family and resided for 44 years. Five years ago they moved to Iowa City, to live nearer to family members.
Jean was a devoted wife and mother and was fiercely protective of her family. Her husband, Glen credits her with all the successes he enjoyed in life – from beating heart disease, to managing their home and raising four wonderful children. Both Jean and Glen were committed to ensuring their children had opportunities for higher education that they did not have. Jean was extremely interested in politics, space and loved doing crossword puzzles. She was a student of her Catholic faith and was devoted to the Pope and his teachings. She loved God's earth and was an avid gardener and made sure the birds had fresh water every morning.
Her family includes her husband, Glen; their children, Douglas Dill (Christina) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rebecca Devor (Eric) of Iowa City, Julie Dill of Chatham, Ontario, Canada, and Tim Dill (Gailanne) of Grinnell; son-in-law, Christian Voelcker of Portland, Ore.; sister, Lottie Glanders of La Porte, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean Haymon and Josephine Pawlak; and a brother, Benjamin Kozik.
Jean's family would like to thank all the staff of Crestview Care Center in West Branch for their loving care and support of Jean, we will always cherish all that you did for her and our family.
