Alan Bruce Bickel of St. Luke's Living Center West on Fourth Avenue SE, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, of natural causes. He was 85.
Alan was born Aug. 25, 1928, son of Doris and Robert Bickel of Cedar Rapids, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a business degree. He was a broker of insurance his entire life and a Christian man with unbound generosity. He was an avid athlete with the racquet sports of tennis and racquetball.
Alan is survived by his sister, Jocelyn J. Bickel (Rio Rancho, N.M.); nephew, Robert (Cedar Rapids); and niece, Vir-ginia (Albuquerque, N.M.).
At Alan's express wish, his body will be cremated and his ashes will be inurned in the family plot in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A family service will be held later this year.
