Pirtle, L.J.
L.J. Pirtle, 57, of Vinton, died Jan. 9, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Christian Fellowship, Vinton.
Surviving are his wife, Teresa; his mother, Rosielee Bryant; his children, Jerry Lee McNeil, Jay Lee Pirtle, Joshua Pirtle, Tasha, LaToya Everett, DaVina Everett, Amecia Walter, Sherril Walter, Chantel Pirtle and Ciarra Pirtle; his siblings, Ray Young, Brenda Wesley, Ann Gilton, April Hadley, William Bryant, Billy Pirtle, Larry Pirtle, Dwight Bryant and Rickey Bryant; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a daughter, Stephanie.
L.J. Pirtle was born Feb. 17, 1952, in Humboldt, Tenn. He moved to Iowa in the 1980s to be with family. He worked in construction for several years. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and sitting outside. He was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship.
He will be missed a lot by his children and family.
A memorial fund has been established.
