Letter: Lusk Ave. no place for Kinnick-style home

The proposed residential home to resemble Kinnick Stadium on Lusk Avenue in Iowa City will alter that neighborhood and cost taxpayers an inordinate amount of money for many years for these reasons: the street will need to be widened for emergency vehicles; storm sewers will need to be improved due to runoff; and environmentally, many trees will need to be cut down and many wild animals will lose their homes.
The name Lusk Avenue is a misnomer. At the current time there are three houses on this avenue. If you are not familiar with the area, please drive over there. I did and I had to back my small car out in order to turn around.
For the record, I do not live in Manville Heights or anywhere near this proposed project, but it does concern me as a permanent resident (and taxpayer) of Iowa City.
Today, Lusk Avenue; tomorrow, your neighborhood. The city talks about preserving neighborhoods - let's start on Lusk Avenue.
