USHL reveals protected roster lists for all clubs

CEDAR RAPIDS - The United States Hockey League revelealed protected roster lists for all of its teams Monday. These are players whose USHL rights are owned.

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders listed 30 players on their main protected list and another 18 on their list of affiliate players. These are younger players who hope to play for the club in the future.

There are no surprises on the Riders protected list. It includes returning players Cal Burke, Ben Blacker, Ross Colton, Derek Daschke, Bryce Hatten, Casey Jerry, Hugh McGing, Mitch Reinke, Logan Von Ruden and Zach Court.

Cedar Rapids opens its preseason schedule with a game Friday night at Dubuque. The Riders then host Dubuque for a scrimmage Saturday night that is free and open to the public.

The RoughRiders host Lincoln on Sept. 26 in the regular-season opener. They must have their roster whittled to 23 by Sept. 21.
