Russell "Trash" Ralls, 64, of Ely, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. Per Russell's wishes his body has been cremated. No services are planned at this time. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Trash is survived by his loving wife, Christine of Ely; son, Joey Ralls of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, Michael McDaniel and Holly (Juan) Cuellar, and three stepgrandchildren, all of Muscatine; and his sisters, Lola Ralls Voles of Indiana and Catherin of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Gwendolyn Ralls.
Trash was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Paris, Iowa. Trash married Christine McDaniel on June 30, 2007, in Mount Pleasant.
He worked for the City of Cedar Rapids Sanitation Department for 17 years before his retirement.
Trash enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded many medals, including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat "V." Trash was a proud member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club for over 20 years. He enjoyed reading westerns and science fiction, riding motorcycles and the camaraderie of his Motorcycle Club.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Christine, his family and his club
brothers.
