LISBON - Lisbon High School has been very successful in many activities.
Nevertheless, Lisbon is known for how good it is at sports, from numerous wrestling titles to a football championship to five state track titles. The list could go on and on.
The fine arts program has been just as successful. In the last three years, the speech program has placed top five the conference and sent 10 students to state.
Sports get all of the rage, but fine arts can be just as rewarding and fun.
'It seemed like the cool thing to do,” said Chris Cannon, senior at Lisbon High School. 'It sounded fun.”
Senior Abbie Larson enjoys here time with the fine arts.
”If you are thinking about doing it, do it, there isn't much to be nervous about,” she said. 'Everyone is there to help.”
If there has ever been a thought to join any fine arts program, do it. Just like sports, there are multiple programs to join. If you can you sing, join the choir. Have you ever wanted to learn an instrument? Join band.
There are multiple programs to explore and learn about - speech, band, jazz band, choir and even theater. Just like sports, there are more than one to choose from.
”Music teaching chose me,” said Julie Stulken, who has been the Lisbon choir teacher for 30 years.
Maybe if you were to join fine arts, music could choose you, too.
Sports is a big deal at the school and around town. Fine arts can be the talk of the town, too.
Lisbon High School may be best known for his sporst success, but the fine arts programs excel, too. (Jim Slosiarek/The Gazette)
