Letter: Williams column was narrow-minded

After reading the Jan. 5 article by Walter Williams, 'The liberals' struggle against reality”, my main comment is, 'What?”
Although I appreciate The Gazette bringing different viewpoints to the opinion page, I cannot see how this article is anything but a narrow-minded view, assuring your readers that 'liberal” is a dirty word and that anybody who espouses liberal beliefs is clearly wrong and out of touch with reality.
Please tell me when liberal thinkers have been on the wrong side of civil rights, equal opportunity despite disproportionate income levels and equal rights regardless of gender.
I am a liberal and consider myself intelligent, open-minded and tolerant of other beliefs. I am also offended by the article.
