Homeowners making southwest Cedar Rapids home available for fire training
Cedar Rapids firefighters will make use of another training tool this week.
Crews will be practicing interior fire attacks starting Wednesday at a house donated to the department at 2653 Fruitland Blvd. SW. Owners of the one-story, 870-square-foot house are planning to clear the property for new construction.
Firefighters will be conducting several training exercises Wednesday and Thursday. The house will be completely burned down Friday.
Fire Department spokesman Greg Buelow said the fire departments typically are limited to two practice burns per year.
