Former Kernel star Trout gets call to big leagues

About a year after finishing his career with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, teenage wunderkind Mike Trout is in the major leagues.
The parent Los Angeles Angels recalled the 19-year-old outfield prospect from Double-A Arkansas to replace injured outfielder Peter Bourjos in their lineup. Trout was hitting .330 for the Travelers with 28 stolen bases and 11 triples.
He has been rated the No. 1 minor league prospect by some. Trout, a first-round draft pick in 2009 out of a New Jersey high school, played a little more than half of last season with the Kernels before a promotion to high-Class A.
