Iowa football recruit Jim Poggi comes from good bloodlines

Jim Poggi of Baltimore went to the same high school, Gilman School, as former Iowa Hawkeyes offensive lineman Brian Ferentz.
Like Ferentz, the son of Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz, Poggi comes from a good football heritage. His dad, Biff Poggi (what a great name), played at the University of Pittsburgh alongside the likes of Dan Marino, Hugh Green and Mark May.

As for the elder Ferentz, he gets a bit of a writeup here at the Englert Blog. The Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City is the site of an event Thursday night co-hosted by Ferentz and Nate Kaeding.
