Schreifels, James H. 'Jim'
James H. “Jim” Schreifels, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at his home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by Father Tom McDermott. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie Ann; daughter, Kimberly Ann Tanasse of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Todd (Jeni) Schreifels of Kansas City, Mo.; stepchildren, David (Nadine) Greider of Marion, Lyle (Shelly) Wehr of Fairfax and Paul (Michel) Wehr of Walford; 10 grandchildren, Danniel Gray, Brianna Tanasse, Luke Schreifels, Landon James Schreifels, Holly Greider, Amanda Greider, Samantha Wehr, Stephanie Wehr, Jack Wehr and Elli Wehr; and his mother, Delores Schreifels of St. Cloud, Minn. Also surviving are a brother, Jeff (Linda) Schreifels of St. Cloud, Minn.; sisters, Joan (Harry) Voigt of Minneapolis, Janet (Don) Klein of Clear Lake, Minn., Jane (Ed) Ronda of Paynesville, Minn., and Jackie (Mark) Heinen of Waite Park, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Schreifels; and a brother, John Schreifels.
Jim was born Feb. 23, 1946, the son of Hubert and Delores (Decker) Schreifels, in St. Cloud, Minn. He graduated from Tech High School in St. Cloud in 1964. Jim married Luanne Phanenstein in St. Joseph, Minn., in 1966 and divorced in 1981. He married Virgie Ann Wehr in 1999.
Jim retired from Nabisco with 34 years of service. He enjoyed all sports, especially fantasy football and baseball. He really liked his weekly trips to the local casino.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jim's memory.
