McCloud, Maysel M. (Porter)
Maysel M. (Porter) McCloud, 93, a long time resident of Ryan, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Silver Creek United Methodist Church, rural Ryan, with the Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Burial: church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester.
Maysel was born Jan. 6, 1918, in Buck Creek, Iowa, the only daughter of Frank and Mary Ann (Ratcliff) Porter. She attended rural school at Buck Creek in Milo Township. She was united in marriage to Erwin E. McCloud on June 1, 1939, at the Methodist parsonage in Manchester. Together the couple farmed until retirement.
Maysel is survived by her children, Lyle (Eleanor) McCloud of Milpitas, Calif., Marvin (Peggy) McCloud of Santa Clara, Calif., Ed (Lisa) McCloud of Ryan, Marie Main of Centerville, and Rita (Roger) Mullis of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Scott (Brenda) McCloud, Corey (Jen) McCloud, Megan (Scott) Goebel, Jonica (Garret) Paris, Stephanie (Tom) Windust, Amanda Main (Jake Montegna), Matt (Emily Bergeson) Mullis and Angie (Chris) Anderson; 24 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and a great-great-grandchild on the way; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin “Speed” McCloud in 1983; an infant daughter, “little” Helen Elaine McCloud in 1940; two brothers, Meryle and Roscoe Porter; and a son-in-law, Norman.
