Barbara G. (Sherman) Boyles, 78, died at her Urbana home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 26, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., in Vinton. Private interment will be held at Urbana Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will follow the funeral service from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The wearing of masks is suggested.
Barbara was born on May 25, 1942, in Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Helen (Bobst) Sherman. Barbara worked at Collins Radio and retired from Quaker Oats.
On May 26, 1962, she was united in marriage to David Boyles at the Urbana Christian Church.
Barbara was a longtime member of the Urbana Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing the accordion and singing. She dearly loved spending time with David and her family and friends at their cabin on the Cedar River.
Survivors include her loving husband, David; her children, Lisa Boyles of Urbana and David (Melinda) Boyles Jr. of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Tressa Halstead of Garrison; and three great-grandchildren, Mat, Aleeyah and La'Ressa Halstead.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Matthew David Boyles and Robbie Rae Douglas Wenger; and three sisters.
