Linn-Mar approves all-quarter school calendar for 2018-19

MARION - The Linn-Mar school board this week approved an all-quarter 2018-19 school calendar with classes starting Aug. 23 and ending May 31, 2019. The starting date is the earliest allowed by law.

The new calendar aligns elementary schools, which have been operating under a trimester system, with middle schools and the high school, which will continue to use a quarter system.

Thanksgiving break is scheduled for Nov. 21-23, winter break from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1, and spring break, March 18-22, 2019.

Adjustments have been made so that the third quarter will end spring break and the fourth quarter will not start until after spring break.

The first week of June 2019 is reserved for makeup days, if needed, because of weather cancellations.

Graduation for the Class of 2019 is scheduled for May 26, 2019.
